The Order of Monster Hunters

In the world of Shinseina, where dangerous creatures and lurking horrors are ever-present, the Order of Monster Hunters stands as an esteemed and indispensable organization that was made to face these deadly threats posed to the world hundreds of thousands of years ago and stand strong even now. Comprised of seven distinct factions, each specializing in different aspects of monster hunting, they share a common and unwavering purpose: to protect the living by relentlessly pursuing and eliminating the monstrous threats that plague the land.

Structure and Purpose

The Order of Monster Hunters, while bearing some resemblance to the Guild, differentiates itself through its methods and structure. Unlike the Guild, which relies on hiring adventurers or individuals for missions, the Order undertakes tasks assigned to them or embarks on self-imposed quests to proactively rid the world of monsters. Their sole focus lies in combating and neutralizing these menacing creatures, ensuring the safety and peace of the land.

They do not welcome just anyone, one can not simply sign up to become a member of the Order as they can only be recognized by passing a test held by the group once every five years, or, by having a badge granted to them by a member of the Order that allows them to take the test at any time.

Only once they pass this test can they join the Order and join a faction.

Training and Expertise

These hunters are not ordinary individuals but highly skilled and rigorously trained specialists. From a young age, they undergo years of intense preparation, learning to master combat, survival skills, and the intricate knowledge of various monstrous creatures. Only after passing the grueling Rite of Passage do they earn the esteemed title of Monster Hunter. Once deemed worthy, they venture forth into the world, often traversing alone or in small pairs.

Their solitary nature stems from the perilous demands of their craft. Even the least experienced among them possess skills comparable to seasoned adventurers, with many attaining expertise or mastery in their chosen field. Some of them are even experts in fields outside of the common norm; and can be called masters of the arts.

However, despite their strength and expertise, the Order faces a declining membership. Many aspirants fail the arduous Rite of Passage during their youth, succumbing to its deadly trials and never fulfilling their destiny as true Monster Hunters.

The Seven Factions

Within the Order, seven distinct factions exist, each specializing in different aspects of monster hunting. These factions ensure that the Order can tackle any threat, no matter where it may arise or what form it may take.

The Dragonslayers

Renowned and revered among the Order, the Dragonslayers are masters in combating draconic creatures. From ferocious dragons and mighty wyverns to sinister dracoliches and elusive wyrms, they possess the strength and prowess to face these formidable foes head-on. Their armaments are often enchanted to withstand dragon magic and their tactics honed over centuries of tradition.

Tales of this faction tell of members having hunted Dragons from the Dragon Realm, and that older members of the faction had once aided in the haunt of Ragnarok.

The Aquahunters

Though lesser known, the Aquahunters excel in underwater combat. Skilled in navigating both above and beneath the water's surface, they confront aquatic-based monsters with unwavering resolve and skill. Their equipment includes specialized breathing apparatus and harpoons enchanted to pierce the toughest of scales.

The Griffonforce

A faction of adept hunters, the Griffonforce takes to the skies in pursuit of their prey. Trained to engage aerial creatures, they possess unparalleled mastery of airborne combat, soaring with grace and deadly precision. They ride trained griffons or other flying mounts, making them a formidable presence in the air.

Some of them can even fly themselves, removing the need for a mount as they take control of the sky to destroy their enemies.

The Canines

This specialized faction focuses on hunting ground-dwelling creatures, particularly those reminiscent of dogs, wolves, or other canines. With their exceptional tracking skills and knowledge of pack behavior, they subdue these beastly adversaries with efficiency and expertise.

Even alone they are able to destroy an entire pack of creatures with their knowledge and skills.

The Nightmares

Well-versed in the art of nocturnal combat, the Nightmares excel in hunting creatures under the cover of darkness. Their heightened senses and specialized training equip them to navigate the shadows and strike fear into the hearts of their monstrous targets. They employ tools such as night vision elixirs and silent weapons.

The Stalkers

As a larger faction within the Order, the Stalkers may face less deadly Rites of Passage, but their importance lies in their tracking, locating, and trapping expertise. Tasked with scouting and reporting monster sightings, they form the crucial vanguard of the Order's operations. Their reconnaissance skills are unparalleled, and they often lay the groundwork for larger hunts.

The Hightable

The most elite and prestigious faction, the Hightable comprises the top elites, and most powerful, of the Order. Candidates must surpass exceptionally challenging Rites of Passage and endure multiple rigorous tests to earn their place among the best. These unparalleled hunters epitomize the pinnacle of training and prowess within the Order, often leading the most dangerous and critical missions.

From slaying S Rank Monsters to hunting down Angels and even outside threats from the Realm.
