Geography

Vestalia is strategically located at the crossroads of major oceanic and land trade routes. It boasts a lush and fertile landscape, ideal for farming and vineyards, with a bustling port city, Vestalia is station on the coast and surrounded by large farmlands on all other sides.

History

Government and Politics

Vestalia is governed not by a King or Ruler but by a council known as the Merchant's Concord, composed of the six wealthiest and most influential merchants within the Kingdom and throughout the world. These individuals represent various sectors of commerce, such as textiles, spices, gems, agriculture, shipping, and crafts. Decisions that affect the Kingdom as a whole go through this council and are made through voting, with each merchant having an equal say.

The Six Merchants

  • Liora Amethyst - A jeweller and gem trader, known for her vast network and exceptional negotiation skills.

  • Bramor Goldleaf - A trader in exotic spices and rare herbs, with connections throughout the world and a reputation for bringing luxury to Vestalia.

  • Selene Starweaver - A textile merchant, renowned for her exquisite fabrics and innovative designs.

  • Darian Ironfoot - A master blacksmith and arms dealer, supplying high-quality weapons and armor to anyone willing to pay. Rumored to be connected to the black market.

Economy

Vestalia's economy is driven by trade, with markets bustling with goods from all over the world that welcome people to set up their own stalls or buy the wares provided. The kingdom's prosperity hinges on its ability to import rare and exotic items and export high-quality local products, with a large margin of its profit coming from the tax done to merchants who wish to use its location to sell their own goods. Vestalia is also known for its fairs and festivals, which attract traders and buyers from distant lands, making it a hub of economic activity.

Culture and Society

Vestalia is a melting pot of cultures, thanks to its extensive trade connections and open borders that allow all to enter. The citizens value wealth, innovation, and commerce, but there is also a strong sense of community amongst those who settle down and live within the Kingdom. Festivals celebrating trade, harvests, and craftsmanship are common, fostering unity among the people and fostering new innovation. The kingdom’s architecture reflects its prosperity, with grand buildings adorned with intricate carvings and luxurious materials.

Military

While Vestalia is not a militaristic nation, it maintains a capable defense force to protect its wealth and trade routes. The military is well-equipped thanks to Darian Ironfoot's high-quality arms. The kingdom also employs a network of mercenaries and maintains alliances with neighboring kingdoms for mutual protection.
